Shipping Container Conditions & Grades
There arevarious conditions shipping containers can be graded. The most common grades are New (One trip), Cargo Worthy (CWO), Wind & Water Tight (WWT) and As-Is.
SCC only provides New and Cargo Worthy containers. New containers are in “One Trip” condition. This means that they have only carried cargo once in their single overseas trip from our manufacturing plant in China to Canada.
All SCC containers have a structural guarantee to be wind & water tight with no holes or leaks, have working doors, door seals, and solid floors.
As used shipping containers will have been used for 10-15 years before being sold into the market, there will be inevitable rust/dents.
Container Modifications
Whether it is adding vents for extra circulation, shortening the size of a shipping container, or adding windows and doors, Sigma Container Corporation is here to help you with any custom modifications that you may need.
Containers are Stacked
As containers are stacked for storage at our depots across the GTA, we will deliver the most accessible container off the stack. We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate the customer’s aesthetic preferences, such as colour, and we guarantee the structural integrity of your container meets cargo-worthy condition status. This includes the following standards:
- Wind and water-tight, no holes/leaks
- Working doors and door seals
- Solid floorboards
It is not uncommon for a container to have received repairs during the course of its lease as an international cargo container. This can include patches, floorboard replacements etc. Sigma ensures that all repairs are done properly and up to structural code.
1 YEAR WARRANTY
Every container purchased from SCC is reviewed a final time before being sent out for delivery and is covered under a 1-year warranty that it will remain wind and water-tight under reasonable use conditions.
The warranty DOES NOT cover the aesthetics of the container, such as dents, scratches, and surface rust.
If you have arranged your own pick up of the container, then please inspect the container prior to leaving the depot. Once it the container has left the depot, the condition of the container is assumed to be cargo worthy by default.
Disputes regarding the condition of the delivered shipping containers will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Please contact your assigned representative with photos of the container in order to initiate our resolution process.
DELIVERY INFO
It is the customer’s responsibility to prepare the drop location (including, but not limited to removing all obstacles, ensuring safe ground conditions) and to always communicate with your sales representative regarding changes to the status of the drop-site.
The best way to prep the drop-site is to make sure that the container can sit level on the ground. In order to best preserve your container for the long-term, it is ideal to place at leasttwo 8’ long 4×4 wooden planks at both ends of the container to keep them level and elevated.
To ensure a smooth delivery and to avoid any driver wait time charges, please make sure to read through the information below.
We use tilt-and-load trucks for all our deliveries, meaning that the truck will roll the container off directly where you would like it to be placed (if accessible). Please make sure that you have enough room for the delivery to be completed.
